Background:    “Doing the things that demonstrate good manners isn't always easy or fun. But having good manners will help your child have better friendships, happier family relationships, and an easier time adjusting to the nuances of our society. No child is born with good manners. Manners are definitely something that need to be taught. Over time, and with practice, your child will naturally begin to repeat the things she has been taught from a young age. One of the social graces that is often overlooked is writing of the Thank You Note. It is so important that children learn from a young age that it is appropriate to write a thank you note anytime they receive a gift or anytime they have been a guest at someone's home. Objective:  To have every young student and family provide at least one thank you note, drawing, art work such as collage, which can be sent to the people who give so much to Better Beginnings’ children and families.

Materials Needed:  Your choice.

Process:  Encourage child to make a drawing, dictate a thank you story to you, make a card, create a collage, or any other expression of thankfulness.  Use only first names to identify.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: Fine motor control, kinesthetic, Social/Emotional.

Extended Learning:  Maintain an attitude of gratitude.  Each day, in the morning, during the day, and in the evening, name together the things for which you are thankful.

Historía:  “Hacer cosas que demuestren buenos modales no es cosa facil o divertida.  Pero tener buenos modales ayudara a su niño a tener buenos amigos, y les sera mas facil adjustarse en el matiz de nuestra sociedad.  Ningun niño nace con buenos modales.  Los buenos modales son definitivamente algo que necesitan ser dichos.   Con el tiempo, y con practica, su niño naturalmente comensara a repetir las cosas que se les han sido dichas desde la edad temprana. Una de las cortesias sociales que se pasan por alto es escribir una Nota de Gracias. Es muy importatnte que los niños aprendan a edad temprana que es apropiado escribir notas de gracias en cualquier momento que ellos reciban un detalle o en cualquier momento que ellos hayan sido invitados por alguien a su casa. Objetivo:   Hacer que cada joven estudiante y familia provea por lo menos una nota dando gracias, dibujo, trabajo artistico como un collage, el cual puede ser enviado a las personas quienes dieron mucho a los niños y familias de Better Beginnings.

Materiales que necesita:  Su escogencia.

Proceso:  Anime a su niño a hacer un dibujo, que le dicte una historia dando gracias, haga una tarjeta, cree un collage, o alguna otra expressión de agradecimientos.  Use solo el primer nombre como identificación.

Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias:  Control motor fino, Kinestesico, Social/ Emocional.

Continuo aprendizaje:  Mantener una actitud  de agradecimiento. Cada dia, en la mañana, durante el dia, y en la noche, mencionar juntos las cosas por las cuales tu das gracias.
