Organization

55PLUS is a non-sectarian group of men who meet on the first and third Thursday mornings of every month except the latter part of June, July, and August at 10 AM at the Princeton Jewish Center, 435 Nassau Street. Most of our members are either retired or have flexible working hours. The organization has a unique structure in that there are no officers, elected or otherwise, no Board, no dues, no formal membership and a notification list which one can join by simply requesting to be placed on one of our mailing lists. (See "How to Get on our Mailing Lists" on the Menu to the left)

The club's primary purpose is to hold bimonthly lecture/discussion meetings from September through May or early June of each year. Prominent scholars, Nobel Laureates, eminent professors, medical doctors, lawyers, spies, engineers, artists, bankers, gourmets, deep sea divers, politicians, financial wizards and others who either have or have had interesting careers, are invited to speak. Meetings usually last about two hours and always includes time for attendees to socialize before the talk and to ask questions afterwards. Meetings regularly draw over 150 people and many more when the speaker is very well known. Women are welcome at the lectures and on trips.

The duties of the organization are carried out by a corps of volunteers under the nominal guidance of Bob Robinson a retired chemical engineer. A planning group called "The Honchos" holds occasional meetings to find interesting speakers, appoint contact persons to invite the speakers, and arrange for the field trips. Other volunteers maintain the membership database, mail meeting notices, write and mail publicity releases, maintain our Web site and arrange for meeting sites and other activities. If you would like to help, please contact Bob Robinson, or call him at 609-683-1104
