There are instrument lessons, Barclay, a soccer game, a football practice and homework - it looks like rain, but maybe not - so is dinner the quick stuff on hand or throw something more substantial together and go for a full family dinner, saving the throw together on hand stuff for the night these games get rescheduled? UGH!!!!!
That 's where we start - how to plan around an ever changing family schedule typical of life in 2009 while still focusing on the elusive important family dinner theme many believe and know to be vital for our kids and ourselves?
Family dinners provide us with stability, an opportunity to tell stories and make sense of the day, teach manners, the art of conversation, listening skills, self esteem and allow for some great anti tech down time. Future blogs will highlight the current research regarding family meal time.
Ever evolving ideas, opportunities to share what works for different families, resources, growing strategies for family menu plans, individual tastes, take out, assembled dinners, rhythm of the day with food not a 5:00 beat the clock challenge, run to the store will be the running theme of this blog.
Come along, cull the pantry, define your style and explore making food for and with our families together. 1950's family style in the thousands!!!
