Princeton Day School teams up with Kids Earth Fund Americas to
offer a unique opportunity to purchase art created by children for
children during a special exhibit December 1 through January 15 in the
Anne Reid ’72 Art Gallery on campus.
The public is invited to view the exhibition of original artwork by
children around the world and to purchase notecards, giclee prints, books,
t-shirts and hand-painted reusable bags created from children’s artwork
during a Holiday Sale from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 3 in the gallery.
“Princeton Day School wholeheartedly supports the Kids Earth Fund,” said
Gallery Director Jody Erdman. “We will have beautiful art created by
children from around the world hanging on our walls and a live performance
from our students during the opening event. We look forward to a special
exhibition from a wonderful organization.”
Kids Earth Fund is an international organization that provides support for
children who suffer from the effects of poverty, war, and environmental
disasters by reproducing and selling children’s artwork as marketable
products. Since 1988, Kids Earth Fund has provided worldwide donations of
food, clothing, shelter, medicine, and educational and art materials to
more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. In the past
ten years, they have also built eight homes for children who have been
orphaned, become homeless, or born with HIV.
Art projects by PDS Lower School students during 2008 have provided
support for nine children at the Kids Earth Home in Ho Chi Minh City.
Artwork pictured is titled “Arctic Fox” by PDS student Benjamin Dodge of
Princeton.
Proceeds from this holiday exhibition will provide continuing yearly
sponsorships for these children. For more information about Kids Earth
Fund, Americas visit the website: www.kidsearthfund.us.
“The children loved these projects, learned many valuable painting lessons
in the process and expressed enthusiasm and a sense of pride that they
could make a difference in the lives of other children,” said LS Art
Teacher Tina Dadian, who also is the US representative of Kids Earth Fund
Americas.
The Kids Earth Fund exhibition is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday when school is open and by appointment on weekends. For more
