There
are some who say that there should not be art contests. This page is
for those who disagree and want to enter contests. Why have contests?
Recognition, making money off art, and a chance to get a reduction of
tuition or a free ticket to college are some incentives.

K-12 Art Contests
- Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards - An international juried media competition that recognizes projects that best illustrate the program’s ‘Create with Purpose’ philosophy. Deadline: June 18.
- Artla's Student Artist of the Year - This is open to any student in any country. $10,000 cash prize to grand prize winner.
- Celebrating Art - Over $5000 in prizes go to students and teachers for each contest.
- Constitution Day Poster Contest- Sponsored by the National Archives- Plains Region. Deadline is early October each year.
- Get to Know Contest-
Wildlife artist Robert Bateman is offering prizes and publication in a
national publication for Canadian students age 19 and under.
- Radiant Peace Education Awards- Entry categories include essays, art, videos, and projects. Winners and honorable mentions receive cash prizes; the winner's classrooms receive awards. Deadline April 21.
- Saatchi Online Art Prize For Schools-
A first prize of £10,000 will be awarded to the winning school’s
art department. A further £2000 will be given to the winning
pupil to be spent on computer and art equipment.
- Society for the Performing Arts-
They have a contest for K-12 students in the greater Houston area to
showcase their art. Cash prizes, scholarships, and museum membership
are the prizes.
- State-fish Art Contest - Open every year for grades K-12. Order the free CD while you're at it on that page. They even pay for shipping!
- Youth Wildlife Art Contest- This art contest has a deadline each Fall and has a first place prize of $500.
Art Contests for Anyone / Exhibitions
- A' Design Award - This contest aims to highlight the excellent qualifications of best designs, design concepts and design oriented products & services.
- American Art Awards - International Contest placing the works of painters, photographers, and sculptors in front of 25 of America's best galleries.
- Armed Services YMCA- their contest is in November
- Artists Wanted : Year In Review is a juried, international all-medium-encompassing open call for art awarding $50,000 in prizes.
- Art Prize - Billed as the largest art competition in the world. Art Prize has been covered by IAD. Come even if you don't enter. This is worth the visit!
- Art Wars- They have a contest every week. Open to all ages.
- B.J. Spoke Gallery- They have an annual juried competition.
- Cartasia- Festival internazionale della carta. Deadline is June 22.
- Congressional Art Competition - Each year, Members of Congress hold contests within their districts to choose winning pieces of art by high school students
- Dick Blick's Linoleum Block Print contest- Deadline in March each year.
- Earth Science Week Contests- for grades K-9
- Halloween Picture Contest- Begins late September each year.
- IASP Two-Dimensional Art Contest- Deadline in December. Limited to Indiana schools
- Los Angeles Center for Digital Art- Also see their juried art contest. Winners get cash prizes and prints of their work
- Manifest Equality- Deadline for submissions is Feb. 19. This contest has the theme of equal rights.
- Masters of Today- The accept art for inclusion of their art books.
- www.MyFeenix.com - $10,000 in prizes. An art contest to bring to life a gargoyle named Feenix in a NYT best selling novel in one of three ways: Two-dimensional art, Three-Dimensional creation or Computer-imaged art. Amateurs, professionals, teachers - anyone welcome.
- Orleans House Gallery Exhibition- Deadline for submissions is the end of April 2009. The exhibition is at Twickenham in the UK.
- Public Jones - You win a prize for the best visual interpretation of one of their songs.
- Shirt Scuffle - This contest allows people to vote for the best art online. Winners receive $500, plus $1 for every shirt sold with a winning design.
- Tee Juice- Participants can win up to $1,000 for T-shirt art.
- 4-H - Every summer, state counties have art competitions. Look your state up for details.
