PINWHEELS
FOR PEACE - SEPTEMBER 21
"Imagine....Whirled Peace". Project began
by Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, two Florida Art Educators. The
website, http://www.pinwheelsforpeace
.com has been updated and they are starting to add participants
to their map as you join (or re- join). This year, there
is an official song that was written and
recorded by a former student - when you hear it, you'll agree that
it
definitely captures the spirit of the project! For those who
wanted
t-shirts and posters, they're also ready to order. The site
also has
a discussion board to share ideas, pinwheel directions and a
template
for making pinwheels. Spread the word!
2006 was a huge success. Ann estimates that there
were one million pinwheels spinning around the world. Plan ahead for
2007.

importance in the world.
This opportunity is ONLY open to students in the very highest level
art class offered at any given high school (AP, Senior Honors, etc.)

LARRY
PRESCOTT - MADISON MIDDLE SCHOOL -
ART PROGRAM IS IN THE POST REGISTER NEWS - IDAHO
|
Those of you who are really
integrating technology have a "hook" to get your local paper
interested in your program. Larry Prescott is his own best advocate. He
contacted the newspaper and "sold" his program with enthusiasm - and
invited the reporter to his classroom. The Post Register- Idaho Newspaper
has a wonderful article all about Madison Middle School art program in Rexburg,
Idaho - written by Brian Davidson. The praise of Larry's students practically
wrote the article! Here is one quote that will really make you smile: "We're learning out the
other side of our brain" by S.S. (middle school student) |
The Incredible Art Department can help YOU get in the news, too. Here is my favorite:
"Just enter 'Larry Prescott' into a Google search and see what all he his
doing to promote art of Madison Middle School"
Larry is busy framing
art for the permanent school collection. Students are thrilled to have their art
donated to the school for this project.
Kudos Larry! Keep it going for these students.
